About me

My name is Basanta Raj Adhikari, born in Kaski district in western part of Nepal, one of the beautiful countries in the world. Born in the middle class family and in rural area, where technological facilities were rarely available. I had to struggle for my study since primary schooling. However; despite various obstacles I successfully completed secondary schooling from Begnas. During my primary schooling I was fascinated by the working of machines like water pump, mill for grinding, watches and so on. As I grew older I was further attracted with the natural phenomenon like lightening in the sky and snowy peaks like Machhapuchre in the north of my village which specially strikes my little mind and an eager curiosity to know about them in their entirety was aroused. Later on I came to know that only the study of science can give the solution to my interest .So I decided to study science and took science as an optional subject in my secondary level.

After completing secondary schooling, I joined Intermediate in Science at Prithivi Narayan Campus, Pokhara and completed successfully. I continued my study further joining Bachelor's degree at Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus in Geology. During my B.Sc. degree, I was highly inspired and motivated to continue further study in the field of Geology which, in turn lead me to complete masters in Geological Science with Specialization in Mapping and analysis.

After completing Masters Degree, I started actively engaged in different research activities related to the field of Geology. I did research in different part of Nepal about the geology. I visited most of the country for the research. I taught in the Environmental Science department of the Tri Chandra Multiple campus.

I have determined my motto of life as 'Studying, teaching and conducting researches' in the field of Geology and expanding the horizon of knowledge. It will enable me to grasp the global opportunities. Therefore, personality development and career advancement has become my set target. After completion of my PhD, I want to contribute the nation by establishing a modern research center in Nepal which will exhibit an example to the future generation. To complete some incomplete studies in Geology of Nepal and Planning is another Challenge I want to face.

Education leads to betterment of life. A degree from European University (which are internationally reputed for their standard and research accomplishments) is a matter of charm and glamour for the graduates from backward countries like Nepal. So that I applied for the Scholarship for the PhD in the European University and I got the scholarship in the University of Vienna, Austria. I completed my PhD from this university.
I am working as an assistant professor in the Civil Engineering Department, Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal.
I published some papers in the Geological Journals. I can do research in adverse condition also. I can climb mountain, swim, driving etc.

My hobbies are watching movies, surfing net and study etc...
